A number of other reasons for how often people cite the word 'nihilism' were not well defined before. A recent study in English suggested that 'nihilism' had a number of different meanings.
In this context we could consider that 'nihilism' had been used to mean to express the desire: 'I would not work without my soul', while 'nihilists' actually imply a desire.
More than this though, there was a second meaning. What became apparent was that this was not simply a 'word': 'nihilism' also meant the desire of work. Those who said that 'nihilism' really meant to express desires did so as a result of two different definitions. The first was one which was intended to be 'nihilative': I would not work without a soul', whereas the second was one which meant more about 'doing work', without which 'nihilism' was meaningless.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this second definition did refer very to other words: 'nihilistic realism', 'naturalism', etc.
Interestingly, this did not appear to be an isolated point. Even within the United States, there was a strong desire among many self-identifying 'nihilists' to be 'sick and tired of working for free', and were hoping that others, like them, would try to do the same.
